Backlinks come in handy when it comes to ranking on search engines. What I mean by backlinks, is another website linking to your website. It may sound like something so simple, and sometimes it is. The problem is, how we go about getting those backlinks. But we will talk about that later. First thing first is why are these so important.

Well like other search engines, Google uses “crawlers” to crawl and scan the code of your website. If the crawlers see something they like, they will likely index your site and you will end up on google. If they see something they don’t like and it goes against search engines terms of service, your site will “penalized” or “flagged.” This sometimes can mean that the page on your site that got flagged, will not be indexed anymore. And when I say not indexed, it means that page won’t show up on google. This is the last thing you want to happen on your site. It is very hard to come back from a penalized page.

Basically, one of the many algorithms that Google has that relates to SEO is referenced as backlinks. So when another reputable site, that is very good friends with Google and has a high ranking and index, has your link on their site, Google sees you as a reputable site. If people are sharing your site and you are getting a lot more organic traffic, then Google will see that. GOOGLE SEES ALL!. The crawlers will crawl all over your code and pick out everything they like and everything they don’t like. Then you adjust accordingly.
How To Go About Getting Them
There are many ways you can go about getting backlinks. Do many of them work? Yes. Do a lot don’t? Yes. But here’s what the pros say to do. Offer a site something in return. You want another site to post your link? Well I am telling you right now they are not going to do it for free. Offer them a free subscription of something or offer to write them a blog post or offer to pay them. You could probably offer your first born if you’re that desperate. Point is, offer something of value for them. They are a very popular blog and they know it. There is always a price to pay. And if you get a reputable blog to post your link on their site, you better suit up and strap in because we are entering the battle field. Watch your traffic more than double and your site better be properly optimized and newsletter popups ready, because now is the time to gain regular viewers.
That would be the most popular way to gain authentic backlinks. Another way is to just be a credible site. Post insightful things that will drive viewers back. Create a great community where everyone is familiar and excited about the same thing you are. They are going to link your latest blog post on their site. This is going to not only make your community think you are credible, but also Google. They will see your links everywhere. Talk about a slow climb to the top of the hill though. These are the things that don’t happen every night. Post good content, and consistently, Interact with people. Offer up great products and services. Be credible. Be honest. And become high ranking on Google.
