Local SEO Ranking: How To Improve Online Locally

Local search engine optimization is as important of regular SEO because if you are a local part of the community, you need customers to find your information. What I mean by local SEO, is if you search into Google “mexican restaurants near me” and you are a Mexican restaurant, you should be on that list. Not only should you be on that list, but you should have hours of operation, an address, a phone number, a link to your website (if you don’t have one let me know!) and maybe an email. These are all the things that customers want to know right off the bat. It obviously depends on your business if you even need all of that information.

Claiming Your Business On Google

Google will allow you to search for your business and then claim that business. Once you claim your business, you can then input all of the necessary information. This is very important. If your business isn’t claimed on Google, you could potentially be loosing out on a bunch of new customers. The owner is the only one that is allowed to claim the business. If you have a digital marketing agency doing it for you, you have to claim it and then make them a manager of it. Fill in as much information as you can ie. pictures, logos, payments.

Reviews

Ahhh yes, reviews. Customer reviews can be so pleasant and beneficial! (sarcasm). All jokes aside, round up as many 5 star reviews as you can. Customer reviews that are broadcasted could be the make or break whether or not a new customer will choose you. I know when I am searching for a business to hire or a new restaurant to go to, the first thing I look at is reviews. If customers had a good time, remind them to leave a review. If you have more low star reviews, then you are obviously doing something wrong.

Creating Local Content

Local Content? Write a blog related to something in the community. Post pictures of new developments happening. Anything you can build or create to target your local audience. Talk to them. Post with them, Laugh with them. This in turn will create trust and a community around your business. If your business has more than one location, create separate posts for each. You don’t have to make it that obvious though. If it makes sense in the content, add your city’s name or something of that matter.
